Jeff Austin has been an educator for over 20 years, having served as a teacher, administrator, and coach. In 2011 he was part of a teacher team that designed and opened the Social Justice Humanitas Academy, an LAUSD Pilot School serving students in grades 9-12. After five years of working as co-Lead Teacher and Coordinator, earning National Board Certification, being named 2012 Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year, Jeff became Assistant Principal for two years before serving as principal at SJHA for five years.
He currently works as a coach for Teacher Powered Schools and as a Community Schools coach for Los Angeles Education Partnership. Jeff is a strong believer in collaborative leadership, equitable practices, restorative justice, and social-emotional learning. Jeff Lives in Altadena, CA with his wife and two daughters and spends his free time watching soccer, reading, embarrassing his girls, and being in nature.
